C\u00e9cile and Vincent welcome you to Lus-la-Croix-Haute and the Champ la Ch\u00e8vre campsite.<\/p>

Here, you\u2019re not just on holiday; you\u2019re discovering an authentic place that leaves no one indifferent. The history, the wildlife, the flora, the mountains, the rugged beauty, the serenity, the southern sun, the cool air\u2026 it\u2019s all here. You come here by chance, you return out of necessity. It\u2019s a real therapy \u2013 it\u2019s been ours for five years.<\/p><\/div>

Lus-la-Croix-Haute, a place to experience and feel<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>

Whether it\u2019s just the two of us or with our three grown-up sons, we love to spend time in the village on market day, explore one of the many hamlets, or take a leisurely stroll through the heart of the Jarjatte valley along the Bu\u00ebch.<\/p>

The Jarjatte Valley<\/a><\/div>

Wherever you look, you\u2019ll find wildlife, flora and mountains. It takes just a few hours\u2019 effort to reach one of the peaks, where you\u2019ll feel as though you\u2019re high up in the mountains and might even spot some chamois.<\/p>

We sometimes visit the resort of Lus-la-Jarjatte in both winter and summer.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Encounters that bring the campsite to life<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>

At the campsite last year, we met Heiko, who was from Germany, and Rik, who was from the Netherlands. They only stayed for one night, by chance, whilst travelling through in their campervan. The view of the Aiguilles de la Jarjatte, the cool air even in the height of summer, and the atmosphere of this village\u2026 They couldn\u2019t stay that time, but they\u2019ll be back for a longer stay this year, delighted with what they\u2019ve discovered.<\/p>

Aline and Jean are from the Var and spend every summer in one of our chalets to escape the heatwave and the crowds. They\u2019re at home here for several weeks. They enjoy a glass of wine, C\u00e9cile\u2019s daily specials and a lovely ice cream from time to time. As for Jean-Claude, it\u2019s all about p\u00e9tanque. Whether at the campsite, in the village or in neighbouring villages, he wouldn\u2019t miss a tournament for the world.<\/p><\/div>

Distinctive personalities, shared passions and a common love of nature<\/strong><\/h2>

Jacques is coming with a group; he prefers the low season in a mobile home, as it\u2019s even quieter, if that\u2019s possible. The mountain bikes are ready, as are the trails; he\u2019ll soon know every path and every shortcut.<\/p>

Then there are the couple from Lyon and their two lovely children. Once they\u2019ve pitched the family tent, they tackle the hills like no one else, know all the best walks, and certainly deserve a dip in the pool at the end of the day.<\/p>

As for Martine, I suspect she has a bit of a soft spot for J\u00e9r\u00f4me, who\u2019s been working at the campsite for several years. Dj\u00e9 knows Lus like the back of his hand; he\u2019ll be delighted to take you on a tour of its secrets. He tells stories like no one else, sometimes lying in the grass, gazing at the night sky and its constellations. He hates screens, but can spend an afternoon with children aged 5 to 95 making land art with a few flowers or pine cones.<\/p>

Anouck and her family of teenagers come from the far reaches of Holland. It\u2019s a real journey they undertake every year with their caravan and tent. The pitch has to be big! They love our little restaurant and our pizzas. The programme for the two or three weeks is all set, with sports, sightseeing and, above all, the swimming pool!<\/p>

Nicolas, for his part, comes with his whole family. He needs a chalet and a tent. Every morning, he gets up well before everyone else and heads out with his dog. His thing is fishing and, sometimes, a quick beer at the campsite bar\u2026<\/p>

We feel very lucky to do our job in a place like this, but even luckier to have guests like ours \u2013 sincere, passionate and respectful. Do you feel like a local for a few days?
